Run Quality Check (⇧⌘Q)

Runs quality assurance checks across all segments in the current file. Locked segments are automatically skipped. Nine checks are available, each individually togglable in Settings > Quality Check:

1. Empty Target (Severity: Error)

Flags segments whose status is not "Untranslated" but whose target text is blank or whitespace-only. This catches segments that were accidentally confirmed or marked as translated without any actual translation content.

Example: A segment with status "Draft" but an empty target field triggers this error.

2. Number Mismatch (Severity: Warning)

Compares the numbers found in the source text against those in the target text. Any number present in the source but missing from the target (or appearing in the target but not in the source) is reported. Numbers include integers, decimals, and formatted numbers with comma/period separators (e.g., "1,000", "3.14", "1,234.56").

Example: Source: "See Article 5 on page 12" → Target: "Bkz. Madde 5, sayfa 13" — flags "12" missing, "13" extra.

3. Punctuation Mismatch (Severity: Warning)

Performs two sub-checks on punctuation:

• Terminal punctuation: Compares the last non-whitespace character of source and target. If one ends with a period and the other with an exclamation mark (or one has terminal punctuation and the other doesn't), a warning is raised. Checked characters: . ! ? : ; ...
• Inverted punctuation: Checks whether Spanish-style opening punctuation marks (¡ ¿) are consistently present or absent between source and target.

Example: Source: "This is important." → Target: "Bu onemlidir" — flags that source ends with "." but target has no terminal punctuation.

4. Length Deviation (Severity: Info)

Flags translations where the character count differs from the source by more than the configured threshold percentage (default: 30%, adjustable in Settings). Segments shorter than 5 characters are skipped to avoid false positives on very short text. The issue message shows the exact deviation percentage and character counts.

Example: Source has 100 characters, target has 145 characters → 45% deviation exceeds the 30% threshold → flagged as "Target is 45% longer than source (100 → 145 chars)".

5. Missing Tag (Severity: Error)

Detects inline formatting tags (bold, italic, underline, hyperlinks) that are present in the source text but missing from the target translation. Tags are represented as placeholders like {0}, {1} in the segment text. A missing tag means the translated text will lose formatting when exported back to the original document format.

Example: Source: "Click {0}here{1} to continue" (where {0}=bold-start, {1}=bold-end) → Target: "Devam etmek icin buraya tiklayin" — flags both {0} and {1} as missing.

6. Extra Tag (Severity: Error)

Detects tag placeholders in the target text that do not exist in the source. Extra tags can cause export errors or corrupt the output document's formatting. This typically happens when a translator accidentally types a tag-like pattern or copies tags from a different segment.

Example: Source has tags {0} and {1}, but target contains {0}, {1}, and {2} — flags {2} as an unexpected extra tag.

7. Tag Order Mismatch (Severity: Warning)

When all source tags are present in the target but appear in a different order, this check flags the reordering. Tag order matters for nested formatting — for example, if the source has bold-start before italic-start, the target should maintain the same nesting. This check only triggers when no tags are missing (if tags are missing, the Missing Tag check already covers the problem).

Example: Source: "{0}bold {1}italic{2}{3}" → Target: "{1}italik {0}kalin{3}{2}" — flags that tag order differs.

8. Terminology Violation (Severity: Warning)

Checks whether mandatory glossary terms are correctly translated. For each glossary entry marked as mandatory: if the source term appears in the segment's source text but the expected target term is not found in the target text, a warning is raised. The comparison is case-insensitive.

Example: Glossary has mandatory entry: "agreement" → "sozlesme". Source: "This agreement is binding." → Target: "Bu anlasma baglayicidir." — flags because "sozlesme" (the mandatory translation) is not found in the target.

9. Prohibited Term (Severity: Error)

Checks whether the target text contains any terms marked as prohibited in the glossary. Prohibited terms are words or phrases that must never appear in translations — for example, outdated terminology, offensive translations, or client-banned terms. The check scans the target text (case-insensitive) for each prohibited glossary entry's target term.

Example: Glossary has prohibited entry with target term "iptidai". Target: "Bu iptidai bir yontemdir." — flags because the prohibited term appears in the translation.

QA Tab (Detail Panel)

Results are displayed in the QA tab of the detail panel, sorted by segment number. Each issue shows its severity (error/warning/info), the affected segment number, the check type, a description of what was found, and a suggestion when available. Clicking any issue row navigates to the affected segment in the editor.

Summary Bar

At the top, colored severity counters show the number of errors (red), warnings (orange), and info items (blue), plus a total issue count.

Issue List

Each issue row shows:

• Severity icon — Color-coded error/warning/info indicator.
• Segment number — The segment where the issue was found (e.g., "#5").
• Issue type — The name of the QA check that flagged it.
• Description — What specifically was found.
• Suggestion — When available, a suggested fix shown in blue.
• Navigate — Clicking any issue row scrolls the editor to the affected segment.

When no issues are found, a green shield icon is shown with a "no issues" message.
