Edit Menu

Undo (⌘Z)

Reverses the last segment text or status change. Multiple undo steps are supported — each edit to a segment's target text or status is recorded and can be undone in sequence.

Redo (⇧⌘Z)

Re-applies the last undone change. Works in combination with Undo to navigate back and forth through your editing history.

Find & Replace (⌘F)

Opens the Find & Replace bar at the top of the segment editor. This provides project-wide search and replace functionality:

• Find field: Type a search term to find it across all segments (both source and target text) in all files. Results are highlighted and the count is displayed.
• Navigation: Use the up/down arrows to move between matches. The segment list automatically scrolls to and selects the matching segment.
• Replace field: Enter replacement text to substitute the found term.
• Replace: Replaces the current match in the target text only.
• Replace All: Replaces all occurrences of the search term across all target texts in the project.
• Close: Click the × button or press ⌘F again to close the Find & Replace bar.

The search is case-insensitive and updates results as you type.

Translation Menu

Confirm Segment (⌘↩)

Marks the currently selected segment as Confirmed and moves to the next segment (if Confirm Moves to Next Segment is enabled in Settings > Editor). Confirming indicates that the translation is final and approved. When a segment is confirmed:

• The translation is added to the Translation Memory.
• If auto-propagation is enabled, identical segments throughout the project are automatically filled. Propagation also handles number pattern variations — if two source segments differ only in their numbers (e.g., "Page 1" and "Page 2"), the translation is propagated with the numbers adjusted automatically.
• If QA-on-confirm is enabled, quality checks are run on the segment.

Next Segment (⌘↓)

Moves the selection to the next segment in the file.

Previous Segment (⌘↑)

Moves the selection to the previous segment in the file.

Apply TM Match (⌘T)

Applies the highest-scoring translation memory match to the currently selected segment. The target text is filled with the TM entry's translation and the segment status is set to Translated.

Batch Pre-translate... (⇧⌘P)

Opens a Pre-translate Configuration Sheet where you can customize the batch translation before starting:

Configuration options:

• LLM Provider — Choose which LLM provider to use for this pre-translation. All configured providers are listed as radio buttons. The project's active provider is pre-selected, but you can override it for this specific batch.
• Scope — Choose which segments to translate:
  • Untranslated segments — Only segments with no translation (default when no multi-selection exists).
  • Selected segments — Only the segments you have selected in the editor (default when multiple segments are selected). Shows the count of selected segments.
  • All segments — All unlocked segments, including those already translated. Useful for re-translating with a different provider or model.
• Segment count — The sheet displays how many segments will be translated based on your scope selection.
• Start button — Begins the pre-translation process. Disabled if no provider is configured.

The pre-translation process:

1. Collects segments based on the selected scope (untranslated, selected, or all), excluding locked segments.
2. Masks inline tags to protect them from modification by the LLM.
3. Sends segments to the LLM in batches with glossary context and TM suggestions.
4. Validates and restores tags in the translated output.
5. Sets translated segments to Draft status with a Machine Translation badge.
6. Displays a localized status message with the count of translated segments, or an error message if the translation fails.

Copy Source to Target

Copies the source text of the currently selected segment into the target field and automatically moves to the next segment. Useful for segments that don't need translation (proper nouns, codes, etc.).

Copy Source to All Empty

Copies the source text into the target field for all untranslated segments in the current file. This can be used as a starting point for post-editing workflows.

Split Segment

Opens a dialog to split the currently selected segment into two segments at a chosen position. The source text is divided at the split point, and both resulting segments inherit the original segment's notes and context.

Merge with Next

Merges the currently selected segment with the next segment. The source and target texts are concatenated. After merging, TM and glossary searches are automatically triggered for the merged segment. This is useful when a sentence was incorrectly split across two segments during import.

Flexible merge: To merge any combination of segments (not just adjacent ones), select multiple segments using checkboxes or ⌘+Click, then use Merge Selected from the batch action bar or context menu. Segments are sorted by index and concatenated in order, regardless of whether they are contiguous.

Confirm Selected Segments (⇧⌘↩)

Confirms all currently selected segments at once. This is the batch equivalent of Confirm Segment — each selected segment is set to Confirmed, added to the Translation Memory, and auto-propagation runs if enabled. Unlike single confirm, this does not advance to the next segment.

Clear Selected Translations

Clears the target text and resets the status to Untranslated for all selected segments. This operation can be undone with a single ⌘Z (the entire batch is recorded as one undo step).

Delete Selected Segments (⌘⌫)

Deletes all currently selected segments from the file after a confirmation dialog. Segment indices are automatically renumbered after deletion. This operation can be undone with ⌘Z (all deleted segments are restored to their original positions).

Concordance Search (⇧⌘K)

Switches to the Concordance tab in the detail panel. See the Translation Memory page for details on concordance search.

Segment Actions

Single Selection

When a single segment is selected in the editor, action buttons appear below the segment row:

• Copy Source (blue) — Copies the entire source text to the target field and moves to the next segment.
• Copy Numbers (teal) — Extracts only the numbers and numeric expressions (including dates like 12/05/2024, times like 10:30, codes like 978-3-16-148410-0) from the source text and places them in the target field. This button only appears when the source text contains numbers.
• Split (orange) — Opens a dialog to split the segment at a chosen position.
• Merge with Next (purple) — Merges the segment with the one below it.
• Translate (indigo) — Translates only this single segment using the project's active LLM provider. The result is applied as a Draft with a Machine Translation badge. This is useful for translating individual segments on demand without running a full batch pre-translate.

These actions are also available via the right-click context menu on any segment row. The single-segment context menu also includes Delete Segment for removing individual segments.

Multi-Selection

You can select multiple segments using several methods:

• Selection checkboxes — Click the circle checkbox next to any segment number to toggle it in/out of the selection. This is the easiest way to build a selection.
• ⌘+Click — Add or remove individual segments from the selection.
• ⇧+Click — Select a range of segments between the current and clicked segment.

When multiple segments are selected, a batch action bar appears above the segment list with four buttons:

• Confirm Selected (green) — Confirms all selected segments.
• Merge Selected (purple) — Merges all selected segments into one. Segments are sorted by index, source and target texts are concatenated with spaces, and notes are combined. Works with any combination of segments (contiguous or non-contiguous). After merging, TM and glossary searches are automatically triggered for the new merged segment.
• Clear Translations (orange) — Clears target text for all selected segments.
• Delete Selected (red) — Deletes all selected segments after confirmation.

The right-click context menu also adapts to multi-selection, showing batch actions (including Merge Selected) instead of single-segment actions.

All batch operations support undo — a single ⌘Z reverses the entire batch.

Segment Status Workflow

Each segment progresses through a status workflow:

• Typing in an empty target field automatically changes the status from Untranslated to Draft.
• Clearing the target field resets the status to Untranslated.
• Using ⌘↩ sets the status to Confirmed and moves to the next segment.
• All status changes can be undone with ⌘Z.

Searching and Filtering

Search

Use the search bar at the top of the segment editor to search across both source and target text. The search is case-insensitive and filters the segment list in real time.

Filter by Status

Click the filter icon next to the search bar to filter segments by their translation status (Untranslated, Draft, Translated, Reviewed, Confirmed, Locked) or show all segments.

Find & Replace

Use ⌘F to open the Find & Replace bar for project-wide search and replacement. See the Edit Menu section above for full details.

Concordance Search

Use the Concordance tab in the detail panel or press ⇧⌘K to search across all TM entries for a specific word or phrase. See the Translation Memory page for full details.
